Care on Display at Intern Day of Service
Retail Business Services – the services company of Ahold Delhaize USA – is celebrating the success of its annual Intern Day of Service, which took place last Friday, July 23. As a team, the group of summer interns, their managers and teammates committed the day to giving back to local communities on behalf of RBS Cares, the company’s community service platform.
Massachusetts and Maine-based interns and teammates met in Portsmouth, N.H., where they volunteered their time at Gather, a hunger relief organization and helped the non-profit categorize donations and create snack packs for kids who are on summer break. Participants included:

Pennsylvania-based intern Emily Bowman volunteered with Gemma’s Angels, a hunger relief organization based in Hershey, Pa., where she helped pack and deliver grocery bags throughout several nearby counties to feed approximately 250 people.
Also in Pennsylvania, intern Ngoc (Karina) Duong volunteered at the Broad Street Ministry in Philadelphia where she helped distribute food at the church’s food pantry service.
North Carolina-based interns and teammates completed a variety of volunteer activities. Interns Sameeran Kanade and Sonya Carter spent the shift at The Pedal Factory in Salisbury, N.C., where they helped repair and refurbish children’s bicycles to increase accessibility and for use in the organization’s children’s summer camp programs. Also in Salisbury, a group volunteered at the Rufty Holmes Senior Center where they gathered donations of essential items and helped create several care baskets to deliver to seniors in the community. Participants included:

Additionally, in Charlotte, N.C., intern Seedy Njie volunteered at the Roof Above, a shelter and organization committed to supporting the local homeless population. Seedy gathered blanket donations and delivered them to the shelter, which were then distributed to individuals in the Charlotte area.
