Meet Our 2019 Top Women in Grocery: Dyana Tull

Jul 02, 2019

Dyana TullDyana Tull has been named to Progressive Grocer’s 2019 Top Women in Grocery list. Based in Scarborough, Maine, she serves as VP, Commercial Litigation & U.S. Privacy Officer for Retail Business Services, the services company of Ahold Delhaize USA.

In her role, Tull oversees and handles litigation and regulatory investigation matters, while serving as the Privacy Officer for the great local brands of Ahold Delhaize USA to support data privacy, security, training and compliance. She also serves as counsel for Hannaford. Prior to joining the organization, Tull was a partner in a law firm outside of Boston, Mass.

“To be honored within this organization, and as part of the grocery retail industry I have come to love, is humbling,” said Tull. “While I enjoyed my years working in private practice, I am so grateful for the direct connection I have now with my business partners in Retail Business Services and  Ahold Delhaize USA companies. Everything I do is in service of the great local brands and their customers.”

Tull was named alongside four other women-leaders from Retail Business Services recognized by Progressive Grocer for outstanding leadership capabilities and honorable achievements.

Fueling her passion to serve the brands is Tull’s belief that a strong legal team can add value to the business through risk mitigation, cost-avoidance and, in some cases, even generating revenue.

She enjoys partnering with the brands to improve existing processes and achieve not only the best legal outcome, but the best business outcome as well.

“I’ve come to think of myself as a leader and business advisor who happens to be an attorney, which is much more fulfilling than simply viewing issues through a legal lens,” said Tull.

Tull’s goal in serving as counsel to Hannaford is to facilitate successes and remove obstacles to help make Hannaford’s stores a better place for customers to shop.

Placing a high value on collaboration, professionalism, candor and accountability, Tull explained that close collaboration and alignment on core values and principles helps Retail Business Services and the brands bring digital innovation, personalization and e-commerce offerings to life.

“I am proud of Retail Business Services’ progress as a best-in-class services company, the advancements we have made and the culture we are building,” said Tull. “Our company, and the industry as a whole, are fortunate to have so many amazing women leaders, and I look forward to celebrating this recognition with them.”

Tull is a graduate of Boston College and earned her law degree from Boston College Law School. She currently lives in Yarmouth, Maine with her husband, Kerry, and two sons, Connor and Owen. She spends her free time skiing, running and hiking with her family and serves on the Board of Directors for Good Shepherd Food Bank and WinterKids.
