Retail Business Services Leader Contributes to Article Exploring Women in Procurement

May 13, 2020

Nancy blogNancy Nicoll, Vice President of Not For Resale (NFR) for Retail Business Services, the services company of Ahold Delhaize USA, is a major contributor to a leading industry article about gender equality in the workplace. The paper, “Women in Procurement: The New Power Players,” was published by Logic Source, an organization that drives profit improvement for its clients through better buying.

The piece examines the number of women in the procurement field and the benefit of hiring and promoting women at every company business level.  A recent survey revealed that of 320 Fortune-500 companies surveyed, only 7 percent employed women as supply chain executives.

In the article, Nicoll shares her personal journey as a woman in the workplace and how she realized she was limiting herself by buying into the myth that women must balance career and family life.

“The best advice I can give is you don’t have to be Superwoman,” she shared in the article, “Pause, understand what is important, communicate with leadership, lean in to your mentors and make sure you aren’t assuming and being unreasonably hard on yourself.”

Nicoll said she was grateful for the opportunity to share about her career, the importance of diversity and her passion for her field.

“Procurement is a dynamic industry, and it can drive huge organizational value as well as opportunities for career growth and learning,” she said. “Taking steps toward more gender inclusivity in this field is an imperative, and I am proud to work for an organization that is dedicated to making a diverse and inclusive workplace a reality.”
