The Significance of Coming Out Day and Supporting Pride Year Around: Josh Copp

Oct 11, 2021

National Coming Out Day is a time to celebrate the bravery it takes for members of the LGBTQ+ community toJosh blog main be true to themselves and acknowledge the difficulties many still face in being their authentic selves. For Josh Copp, an agent in the Omnichannel Service Center, this day is about support and acceptance.

“I encourage you to show extra care to those close to you,” he said. “You never know who might be ready to take that big step and come out; they will need your love and acceptance.”

As PRIDE + ALLIES BRG chair, he hopes to have the ability and influence to create a safe and welcoming space for all, no matter your orientation.

“Whether part of the LGBTQ+ community or an ally, we all have a voice and are meant to be heard!,” he says. “Not everyone who is part of the LGBTQ+ community has had the same experience and giving the chance to come together to share our journeys provides a sense of acceptance and understanding.”

The PRIDE + ALLIES Business Resource Group is dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ associates and the allies who support them. Members work to raise awareness of opportunities and issues that impact LGBTQ+ individuals in the workplace and in our communities.

Having recently taken on the role of Chair for the BRG, Josh added: “I am also excited to expand my professional network and collaborate with leaders within RBS to provide a BRG to our associates that is a judgment free zone, no matter what!”
