Meet Our 2021 Summer Interns!

May 18, 2021

InternsRetail Business Services' – the services company of Ahold Delhaize USA – 2021 Summer Internship Program kicked off Monday, and we are proud to welcome 11 bright young individuals to Retail Business Services for 12 weeks.

“I have that similar excitement level as a first day of school, and I am sure the interns do too!” said Jennifer Campbell, Director of Engagement, who leads the Talent team responsible for coordinating the annual program. “I know it will be the start of many strong working relationships, connections and friendships, which all around warms my heart.”

Interns will spend the first week learning more about the company, meeting managers and getting to know their teammates. Over the course of the summer, they will sharpen their skillsets while learning career and professional skills as they complete projects aligned with their undergraduate studies and interests.

“One element that makes this program so strong is our commitment to involving the interns in impactful work throughout our business,” Jennifer said. “By contributing to meaningful projects and being involved in the business, interns learn, grow and develop standout skills – all of which have become requirements for an internship program to be considered successful. Plus, our teams benefit from fresh perspectives that interns bring to their work. It’s truly amazing how much they accomplish together over a short period of time.”

Interns will also participate in a range of engaging events structured to help them build relationships, experience company culture and have a lot of fun along the way, including completing an Insights Discovery session to learn about developing themselves, working as part of an effective team, and leading with authenticity. They will also attend virtual events with company leaders, enjoy networking happy hours and participate in an Intern Day of Service on behalf of RBS Cares, the company’s community engagement platform.

To close out the program in August, Jennifer and the Talent team coordinate a celebration where each intern presents about their key learnings, contributions and takeaways from working with Retail Business Services.

“We always end the program on a high note by hosting a closing celebration,” noted Jennifer. “We invite managers and departmental leaders, and it’s an opportunity for interns to share about their projects and highlight their contributions through the program. It’s also our chance to recognize their hard work and thank them for a great summer of professional learning and growth.”
